For Donna Gates, the journey into the world of pet grooming began at the age of 15. Inspired by the magical transformations performed on her family dog Mugs by the local pet groomer, Donna knew early on that she wanted to make animals look and feel their best. Starting as a bather under the guidance of the renowned Judi, Donna absorbed the basics of pet grooming, from thorough baths and brush-outs to nail clipping and ear cleaning.
Judi’s insistence on perfection fueled Donna’s commitment to excellence. With dedication and passion, Donna learned the art of grooming without ever attending a formal grooming school. Judi, a master in the business, became Donna’s mentor, passing on invaluable knowledge and skills.
As Donna’s journey continued in Alameda County, she found her true stride working with Katina. Operating as an independent contractor, Donna took charge of her destiny, building her grooming business from the ground up. This period marked the evolution of Donna’s skills, professionalism, and determination to provide top-notch service.
In 2003, Donna realized her dream by becoming the proud owner of Donna’s Pet Grooming, specializing in mobile pet grooming. With over 40 years of experience, Donna’s love for animals and dedication to her craft remain unwavering. Her unique approach involves bringing grooming services directly to the pets’ homes, ensuring comfort and familiarity.
Donna’s commitment to excellence extends beyond her business. Through partnerships with non-profit organizations like Feeding Pets of the Homeless, Donna gives back to the community that has supported her journey. Her mission is not just about grooming; it’s about making a positive impact on the lives of pets and their owners.
Fueling her passion further, Donna embarked on a mission to create the perfect pet shampoo. Frustrated with the options available, she formulated a shampoo using all-natural ingredients suitable for dogs, cats, and even horses.
